Uummannaq – the town beneath the heart-shaped mountain

Discover Uummannaq

Uummannaq is a charming town on the island of the same name in the Uummannaq Fjord in north-west Greenland – almost 600 km north of the Arctic Circle and the largest town north of Ilulissat. It sits beautifully on the fjord with the iconic heart-shaped mountain behind it: a 1,170-metre peak shaped like a heart. The name Uummannaq means exactly that, “heart-shaped”, in Greenlandic.

Here spectacular nature meets a living hunting culture and local traditions. Experience icebergs, the midnight sun, the northern lights and warm encounters with people who live close to nature.
